how safe is it to sleep with a medium to large sized plug in. i.e. more than 6 hours at a time? i would like to keep stretching as much as possible and sleeping with one in seems to be the best idea.

As long as the plug has a wide base that can't be sucked in there is no danger at all.

Atlanta is correct, it is safe.

Four things to keep in mind, however:

(1) the bigger the plug, the more likely your body is to naturally push it out, especially while you are asleep. So you might find that you need a butt plug harness to keep it in when you can't consciously retain it;

(2) The maximum stretch you will get is not the size of the plug, but the considerably smaller size of the groove between the plug and the base.

(3) you also may find that it's impossible to fall asleep with a gigantic foreign object up your bum!

(4) Hans, who already has more experience than I ever will, maintains that the repetitive stroking with a dildo-shaped object that permanently conditions the sphincter to relax to take a hand much better than putting an immobile plug in for hours at a time.

I'm not so fond of sleeping with a plug in. Sleeping with a fully inserted double header though ...

A long dildo can give better results. A big plug can create problems in the morning when you have to pull it out. And the stretching of the sphincter is not so remarkable.
A very long dildo (double header type) can be inserted very deep and it won' t get out as you are sleeping. Not all guys can sleep with the ass stretched and filled.

well i wanna get the stretching rings, but they are costly for the largest ones that i want. that and i dont know how well they would work. seems like they would seeing the middle part of the plug is really large and would hold your hole open wide with little discomfort. i really wanna give them a shot and see how well they work.

What several of us are trying to tell you is that stretching the middle of your hole isn't really necessary, because there's no muscle constricting it. What you need to stretch is the muscle in your sphincter, and it's the part that closes up around the groove between the body of the plug and the base.

SO the body of the plug could be 9 inches around, but if that groove is only 6 inches around, you're only stretching 6 inches.

yea i understand that all, thats what those special ones are designed for. the middle part isnt nearly as narrow as most regular plugs are

Well, if you get a plug without a groove, that's basically a cylinder down to the base, then you won't be able to keep it in unless you sit on it or use a buttplug harness to keep it in.

Rascal has a good dilator kit you can get which should help your training. All with no taper so you'll have to sit on it or hold it somehow. Better than a plug though. Everything crotch is telling you we all conquer on.

what are stretching rings i agree it is almost imposible to sleep with a plug in and some say that it stops your ass closing properly rather htan with sessions you stretch and then you muscle closes properly when you stop

Please be aware that these definitely are "through-hole" plugs that are essentially a tube open at both ends that prop open your sphincter and will let anything smaller than the interior diameter pass in or out, including any poop that comes down that you haven't previously cleaned out.
