Rash or scab on the nose from poppers?

I use Rush poppers because I haven't found any better poppers yet but I always get a rash or scab (not sure what the right word for it is) on my nose from the poppers when I hold the bottle close to my nose.

I love it when a top makes me sniff poppers but most guys seem to want to push the entire bottle INSIDE my nose, lol. If they push the bottle against my skin then I'll defenately have a rash/scab soon. Ususally the next day I think.

I don't know if I would have the same problem with poppers of another brand. Any thoughts?

I have found Rush brand poppers to be the harshest on the skin of my nostrils. I have tried other brands of poppers and have found them to be less harsh -- two such brands that come to mind are English and Amsterdam, but especially English.

I keep some disposable baby wipes handy so that I can wipe my nostrils during play should I get any of the liquid poppers on my skin. It does kind of suck to have to stop to do that, but I find that the skin irritation/chemical burn is much alleviated if I do.

There are devices that make it unnecessary for you to sniff directly from the bottle, but call me old school, but I like to sniff directly from the bottle...

Be careful. One time when the poppers were not as potent, I held it very close to my skin. It created a burn. The skin peeled off and I had a scar (or an open wound) for 1 week or so. It healed after that. Not a big deal but is not pretty. For that week, I had to tell people that I was suffering from allergy and constaly blowing my nose with bad tissue paper created that :D

It sometimes helps smearing vaseline (petroleum jelly) on your nose to create a film and protect your nose. That's if you remember !! Otherwise you will always get the burns when sniffing too close to your nose. Happened to me last week :-)

I find that pushing a cotton ball or two into the poppers bottle will keep the liquid from spashing onto your skin -- especially during body motion. This shouldn't waste any of the poppers.

Find a small jar with screw lid. Place some cotton wool into the jar and pour some poppers onto the cotton wool screwing the lid. When you are ready for a hit then unscrew the jar and sniff.

A great bottle for doing this is the small Collmans mustard bottle here in the UK. Looks a little like a bell;)

Have the same problem with Rush. Try Jungle Juice, much better, stronger and less damage to the skin around yr nose. And if you ever get the fluid poored directly into yr nose, clean yr nose with lots of water a.s.a.p., or use yr own spit when it is inconvenient to get up because you've got somebody up yr ass ;-)

When using wide-neck screw top bottles, filled with cotton wool or some white paper kitchen towels, make sure to drain off any surplus liquid. These bottles provide the benefit of not having to juggle around with liquid poppers, and spilling it (!), which can be pretty distracting when on your back in the sling.

The use of wide-neck bottles also eliminates having to raise your head and to close one nostril while keeping the other one open, most often the reason for spillage – and burns. Instead, you can keep your head down and place the open bottle upside down over both nostrils.

Best results are achieved by briefly, but powerfully, exhaling once through your nostrils into the bottle and then take a deep drag. This will not only produce a proper airflow to transport the poppers gas but will also carry it deeper into your system. Don't underestimate the potential of the poppers-oxygen mix. Oxygen, in fact, raises the effect of poppers. Furthermore, once you have taken a hit, take a few deep breaths without poppers – the results are instant.

If you want to stay on poppers for an extended time, place the wide-neck bottle at a right angle to your slightly opened mouth, barely separating your lips, and inhale in such a fashion so as to draw oxygen into the bottle before inhaling the poppers-oxygen mix. This works on the same principle as does a paint airgun.

Be sure to use bottles with plastic screw tops instead of metal tops; any brand of poppers will corrode metal and may produce harmful fumes you don't want in your lungs.

Poppers contain harsh chemicals and you should be careful. The scab is from the chemicals burning you.

I hear you on the scab on the nose issue. A few week ago my ass was calling for some deep ass play and lots of it so I was was hitting the poppers pretty hard. I found that Wildhorse and Amsterdam were the culprits. I've since switched to English and haven't had the problem again - that, or I'm just more aware of how close the bottle is to my nose.

The scab is a bitch though. Okay, call me vain or a pussy boy or what the fuck ever but I work in a very large corporate office and have high visibility so a scab wasn't going to work for me. I was putting Aveeno lotion on it during the day and touching it up with a dab of L'Oreal True Match Concealer - Neutral. No, I don't usually wear make-up but knew I had to do something and just happened to pick up a really good one at random. Swear to god you would think I was a make-up artist. The scab and redness was instantly and completely gone and I could get my work done and not worry about it so much.

So if your day or night job allows you to walk around with a scab on your nostril looking like a coke junkie then I'm envious. If you're like me you need to remedy the situation fast.

I can fully agree with meFFisto. Read on the old site about using cotton wool swabs soaked in poppers put inside a jar and have used them that way ever since. Get a really serious hit from the expanded mixture inside the jar. Use large jars (Type that are sold with fruit in alcohol in them) so wide opening copes with both nose & mouth. (But leave a gap for pulling oxygen in). My fav popp. are English and Jung juice. Keep jar in fridge. But my fav chems for arse work are now E (xtc) and skunk with some coke in the joint. Feel good and relaxed.

I agree with some earlier replies:
the vaseline coating on your nose (just a small amount) really helps create a barrier from 'poppers burn'.
I use a small vitamin plastic jar with screw on lid. Have several cotton balls stuffed into bottom (but not filling the container) and pour very liberal amounts of your favorite brand into jar, tighten lid and shake. This helps 'stretch' the amount of poppers you use. Store in freezer when not in use to keep the poppers potent and refresh with another liberal amount next time you play.

if any body can get, or will sell me some old formular poppers they can use me for what they like, as i need that old formular poppers rush so bad.
if your getting burnt, i have been and know several other people who got burns from new formular poppers on various parts of their bodies, just think what its doing to your lungs.

I have found the same problem with the "NEW" formula of poppers, scabby nose and sore as fuck. I managed to "aquire" some steriod cream, from a friend which is used for a variety of skin complaints, called "BETNOVATE CREAM" fantastic stuff but unfortunatly only available on prescription in the UK, scabby nose cleared up within 48 hours.

I am glad I am not the only one suffering from these burns. :)

use an old vitamin container, one with a snap lid..3rd fill with cotton wool....pour in your poppers, A...... no spillage, no burns,..for added grip, wrap round some velcro around the contianer...poppers seem to last longer, just top up as required..

The problem is the "substitutes" for real poppers that are often sold. If you use the real amyl nitrite available from Mr. B in the Netherlands or powerpoppers.com you won't have the problem.

I've tried poppers from all over the place recently, including ones that say they are the old style ones. They never are. I have had a burnt nose and even hands when I've spilt some. I don't even need to get the bottle anywhere near my nose to get burnt, the burning is just from the chemical vapours. I'm giving up on poppers, they are too much hassle. I do have to go to work in the morning - my last heavy seeion with poppers resulted in my nose being so sore and blistered I had to take a whole week annual leave for it to clear up.

It seems I'll have to follow the instructions on Utube to make my own or get used to being fisted without poppers. So no double fisting for me:-(

i used to suffer from the same problem and not just from rush, i get sores from most brands, now i dip the end of a cig in the bottle and take a drag, although i think this wastes a lot it stops you from getting a burn! just dont light the cig afterwards!!!

I never used to get burn from poppers until they changed them, the new stuff is definately worse. I find the new stuff poor, doesn't give me half the effect of the old stuff and frankly after the bottle has been opened once or twice you might as well chuck it, because thats when it starts to burn.

Hey there. I've had this issue before. It wasn't the burn that was the problem. Apparently about one third of us have staphylococcus in our noses but it's never usually an issue. It has broke out twice with me, once because of a shaving cut near my nose and once because of poppers. It spreads over a few days and itch's like hell, it's a bit like shingles on your face. You need antibiotics to get rid of it and fucidin cream.

On a separate note I have taken half a bottle of poppers up my nose and straight down the back of my throat before now. It hurt like snorting vodka. I blew my nose in a frenzy for 10 mins. But surprisingly I was pretty fine afterwards. Just a slightly sore throat. I tried putting poppers in a little plastic cup before, it burned through in less that a minute. So I think it is mega corrosive.

Hello... Tobinn here, Wow am I disgusted, Jungle Juice Platinum w/ silver label, bigger bottle, $25.00, my old standby now totally suck. Burn the skin, make urine dark, and run out of pop half way down the bottle. (bottle half finished and useless). Found an old bottle and began a session and thought I was I heaven, now I know what I missing. This is in Providence Rhode Island USA. Jungle Juice Platinum total crap, excuse the language, and has for several months now, several, but had no one to discuss this with. I remember this happening back in the day, 80's sometime and use went out of fashion then they got better again, perhaps we should all boycott the product until the quality improves. Does the downturn economy have any influence? Cheaper product/higher price? Please, someone share, use is high - bottles fly off the shelf so I know others are out there. Why change Chemicals? Can we organize a boycott and send a message? - We want the good stuff!!!!
