pict problems + quest.about threads

hi,
my 'profile picture' is not the same i see when i check my profile in user
list. why? and how can i change my picture in my profile (the one people normally see when they browse the user's list) ?
just another question : i often get a mail from you saying "...has just replied to a thread you have subscribed...". but the thread is always
general and has n'thing to do with mine. how can i control real answers to my thread?

There is a difference between avatar pictures and profile pictures. Avatar pictures appear in your posts and a profile picture appears in your profile. You can edit both in your User Control Panel, under Edit Avatar and Edit Profile Picture.

To answer your second question; this is because of your thread subscription settings. I think the way it is set now is that once you reply to a thread you are automatically subscribed to that thread. So even when someone replies in the thread but not to you (for example in the Introduce Yourself thread), you will be notified. After all, a script is not able to tell to whom exactly someone is replying when multiple people are posting in one thread.

You can edit these settings to your likings of course.

To edit your thread notifications;

Go to your User Control Panel, Edit Options, scroll down to Messaging & Notification, change Default Thread Subscription Mode to No Email Notification or any other setting you prefer.
