Since there seem to be a lot of guys with PA's, including myself, I am curious to know why anyone decided to get one, or indeed any other cock piercing, and whether they had any regrets about doing it. Also what made them go for an upsize. The first time that I came across a guy with a PA (in a picture) I knew that I had to have one and ,have never regretted doing so. Finally got my PA two weeks ago.. I love it but its still a little sore. started with a 10mm but ordered an 8, 6 and 4 mm horeshoe barbell.. how long should I wait til I go to the next size. I too have had an interest in getting a PA for quite some time. Have a few questions. Does a PA make you more susceptiple to getting HIV once healed? Think a lot of things said about PAs are myths by guys who don't have one.

1. HIV Once the PA is healed the pierced part become scar tissue and is not any more prone to HIV than those without PAs. The piercer will tell you not exchange of body fluids for one month. Also using condoms is still recommended with or without a PA.

2. Peeing, I haven't had any trouble. Splatters a little bit but its from the pee hitting the jewelry not pee coming out the piercing. Also no pain at all when I had the surgery and took my first piss.

3. Ejackulating, no problem. I've jacked off twice and both times I really blew my wad.

My PA went easy I think because I like to play with uretha sounds. Remember if you don't like it, pull the jewelry out and the piercing will close.
Mine is 2 1/2 weeks old and already went from a 10mm to an 8mm with no pain it just slipped in. Hope to be into a 6mm in a couple of weeks.

Once a PA piercing is fully healed, it won't close over if you take the jewelry out of it. There are piercings, notably nipples and perhaps guiches, that will close up in a flash if they are left empty for even a short time, but the PA is not one of them.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like your bf is thinking about getting a PA, but isn't absolutely sure he wants to. If so, my advice (for which there is no charge ;) ) is that he NOT get it. Just like guys thinking about getting fisted: don't do it unless/until you have a burning desire you can't say no to.

There are two ways to measure the thickness of body jewelry: one is the thickness in mm, the other is "gauge" sizes. Gauge sizes are used in the US & (I think) Canada, mm in the rest of the world. To compound the madness, there are at least two distinct gauge size systems, but the one used for body jewelry is the B&S/AWG system.

Equivalents:

4 ga ~ 5.2 mm
6 ga ~ 4.1 mm
8 ga ~ 3.3 mm
10 ga ~ 2.6 mm
12 ga ~ 2.1 mm

I got my PA about 5 years ago after I split with my partner. He 'refused' to let me get one, so it's the first thing I did after the split. I absolutely love it and recommend them highly. Ah No!!
If the hole has completely healed then it will be a hole forever although it does shrink.
The thing to bear in mind is that once it has healed and the new surface skin has formed it is then a moist surface skin at all times and so far I have never heard of a PA hole healing up after it has fully set.
I can leave my rings out for up to 2 months and all that happens is the hole shrinks and requires and gentle restretching session.
If anybody has come across one healing completely I would like to hear from them, because as far as I know the only way to heal them would be to create an "open wound" effect all the way around the PA hole and stop the urine flowing through while it heals.

sorry to disappoint you bobjones but I had a PA for 11 years and took it out May 2008 and the hole sealed itself in 1 day. All my piercings (esp. nipples) seal themselves very fast, in a matter of hours. Having said that, I do miss my PA and will be having done again in New Year.

Well, on Monday I went to get a pa. It took about 5 minutes to punch the hole and insert the 8 gauge. I was surprised that it was less painfail than my nipple ring insertion back in 1996. It bled a bit Monday and Tuesday, however wednesday its ok. I only need to soak it a few times a day in salt water - and so far everything is ok. Looking forward to using it sexually in about 3 weeks or so when I've mastered the new feelings...........so if you're tempted to get one - get one - it really doesnt hurt at all. yes... all tissue will scar a bit once cut deeply enough...these "piercings" are actually small "wounds" which require, in reality, a lot more care than most folk want to give or admit they need..."erotic denial". Just be careful, and sanitary. Pain is possibly your least worry. I had cock and nipples pierced; by the time I got home, 20 minutes later, I could wring the blood out of my shirt where I'd lost so much blood from damaged capillary in the tissue of my nipple. Went back to the "piercer" and his father the "co-piercer" neither of whom had a clue as to how to stop the bleeding...fortunately, I thought to put ice and pressure directly on it and the bleeding stopped. Well, I've had my pa in for 5 weeks now. The first thing I found was that in lots of jeans my dick was too sensitive to be comfortable tucked behind the fly for the first few weeks till I found the best position for my dick to rest.

Walking around naked was a strange feeling. I have my PA done nearly 2 years ago. I started with 10ga, and upsized twice last year to 6ga. I'm told that the most comfortable size is 4 ga. So I'm planning to upsize sometime in future. In addition, I have three guiche rings, and hafada (scrotum) and frenum (underside of the penis) laddars to join them up. I just could not stop with one. I'm also planning to do the appadravia, but i'm told that I will be out of action for 3 months....so I don't know when I'm ready for this.

I got my septum pierced today with 2.4 mm straight barbell using a dermal punch. I can't wait to change it to ring in one month time. Sometimes I want too much done in too short space of time, and my piercer slows me down to give enough healing time and the body to recover (but still managed to do 17 piercing in one year!).

There is enough information on the web about piercing and its aftercare. Important thing is listen to your body, and do not overstretch yourself (it's a bit like fisting I guess). Because of my piercing, I now live cleaner life as far as personal hygiene's concerned, and you become more aware of dirty practice etc., which is a good thing I think.

Finally got the PA I have been talking about for years.......don't know why I waited.....I love it and can't wait for it to heal a bit so I can start playing with it. I started with a 6mm, curved bar with large balls. I thought the balls would be large enough but now wish I went a little bigger. my experience is you have to wait at least some 6 to 8 weeks before the new made hole is completely healed and recovered. Your current 3.2 ring must be able to move free around, even feel al bit loose, then you can size up to 4.0mm. and so on, enjoy the upsizing :smile:

Hi I think the europeans this side of the pond the measurement is in millimetres where as the guys in the U.S. use a wire gauge where 10 and 12 etc are a fraction of the inch i.e. 8 would be 1 eighth of an inch 5 would be a 5th of an inch

I started with a ring of 2.8mm thick. And very slowly stretched it from 3.2 to 4 and further to 5, 6, 7 and now 8mm. This was all natural stretching, so I did not go back to the piercer, but just put the new ring in myself. Take your time. I took me at least 4 months to go from one size to the next. And from 7 to 8mm took even much longer (which mathematically makes sense).
