Hi guys,

A few years ago I bought a Braun Silk-épil 7281 epilator and tried it on my legs and it was so painful and I got so many red spots and ingrowns that I put it away and forgot about it thinking I'll never get my money's worth. Last week for some strange reason I was about to shave my legs in preparation for the cycling season (been riding since I raced in high school) and I decided to try it out one more time. since its a wet/dry device I brought it in the shower and began the painful proccess. I read online that it helps to take a pain killer 30 mins before beginning so I popped 2 extra strength Tylenols before trying. the pain was VERY significant but tolerable and in about 30 mins what were once hairy legs were now fairly smooth. there were some stray hairs here and there but for the most part this product worked as advertised.

Once I was done, i exfoliated every inch of my legs, ass and crotch like the instructions said and applied moisturizing cream. Day after day i exfoliated in the shower and applied cream. Well wouldn't you know it? NO RED SPOTS AND NO INGROWNS. I was amazed at the results and am now committed to keeping my legs hair free. Partly because I bike in the summer and because I love the look and feel of my legs.

Is there anyone else out there who loves to keep their legs, ass and crotch hairless????

The only time I get rid of my hair is before a competition. I just use the old fashioned method. I start with electric shears to get all the long stuff off. Then I get into the shower with shaving cream and a Mach III razor. I start at my toes and work my way up. The only area where I get razor bumps or irritation is right around my crotch. After I finish, I carefully rub alcohol around the area to sterilize and then powder with medicated baby powder to keep things dry. The rest of the year I like being moderately hairy.

What do you compete in?

I haven't used the device you described, however my routine matches that of Handlbear exactly! I usually only do the routine during summer months, but I love being hairless so much I would love to have that all year. Maybe I'll win the lottery and can do laser hair removal for everything from my neck down. :) But for now, the Mach 3 Turbo and me have a date twice a week all summer.

Smokinkicks,

I used to feel the same but I gotta say, this is the second time I used the epilator and it removed the hair with MUCH LESS PAIN. also, it really doesn't grow back as quickly as shaving. My legs stay relatively hairless for the entire week and as the new hair grows back it comes in with fewer ingrowns than when you shave. This is my experience but if you have the means I urge you to try it and if you don, don't skimp out on a cheap one. Get the one ou can use in the shower like mine and you will have better results. I tried doing it dry and it was too painful and drew blood. Doing it in the shower was much easier and no blood! :)

Anyhoo, I do love to be hairless. I find it soooo much more appealing than having a hairy ass crack or crotch.

I definitely agree with you Owen. I tried a silk epil several years ago, but it was simply to painful to put up with. Perhaps I should try your tylenol method and perhaps an application of EMLA cream as well.
I've also tried waxing, Veet (Nair) and laser.
You need to be with two for waxing so that's best done in a salon and not all salons will do your crotch if you've got a dangly thingy.
Laser has had some effect on my thighs, which are noticeably less hairy now, but I still need to have at least 3 treatments for a semi-permanent epilation.
At present I use a Braun BodyCruzer on a daily basis.
However, as I'm currently covered in dry eczema shaving is problematic. I'll be reviewing the whole situation once this bout is over. My aim is to be totally hairless.

Atlanta,

What's EMLA cream? Do you need a prescription for it?

I have a Panasonic ES2045 that's an epiliator and a wet/dry electric razor recommended by a poster on asspig.com. I was never able to bring myself to try the epiliator head on myself and have only used it with the wet/dry razor head in the shower. It performs adequately at that, but it does leave a stubbly feeling in some areas and it grows back rather quickly.

What is the idea hair length for epiliation? Obviously, if it's too short, it can't get a grip on the hairs. Too long and it will clog up the head and probably cause more pain.

Crotch,

Shave with the razor, wait 3 days then epilate. If you're doing it dry you NEED to exfoliate THOROUGHLY prior to and then shower and exfoliate again and then when you get out, moisturize. If you don't do this you can get a lot of nasty red bumps and infections in the follicles.

If you're doing it dry you NEED to ...

I would be doing it wet in the shower with liquid soap, as recommended in the Panasonic's instructions, if that's what you mean.

I guess i'm just lucky. I don't have any skin problems. When I want to be hairless, I use Nair. I cover my balls, anus and cockhead with A&D ointment before spreading the Nair, wait 8 to 10 minutes and get in the shower with a coarse washcloth and remove the Nair and hair mix. After all the Nair is off, I use soap or shampoo to remove the A&D ointment. I use a high quality two blade razor and Edge gel to shave my balls, anus and any remaining hairs. I use an emollient skin lotion to moisturize the treated skin and have never had any problems. I find some guys think no body hair is a little creepy, but I like the way it feels and that's all that matters to me.

I usually shave my balls because I do wear my leather or steel cockring and shave my ass because all my tops want to see my ass shaved and clean, before they start to fist me

in that case. Take a hot shower to open the pores and exfoliate lightly prior to.... Once done epilating, exfoliate again (I'm very thorough so as not to get red bumps or ingrowns) and then moisturize. It should sooth everything.

Oh and one last thing. I don't know if this will help but I think it helped me... My first time, before I applied moisturizer, I applied a thin layer of antibiotic cream to the areas I epilated to prevent infection. I think it helped initially and all I am doing now is just applying moisturizer after the shower. :)

Hope this helps

Hi Crotch

see this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lidocaine/prilocaine link on Wikipedia for more information about EMLA cream.

In this country you can buy it over the counter, but if you have a doctor's prescription you can get some of that back from your medical insurance plan.

It's particularly recommended if you plan to have the hair in the genital area permanently removed.

Much prefer a wet shave, even better if someone else is shaving me lol.
Regular shaving with a sharp blade keeps the ingrowing hairs away.
Much more ffun with a cut throat razor :)
